Chocolate Chip Cookies - Easy Recipe

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovebirds out there! I hope you spend the day with people you care about, either your significant other or your friends and family :)

As someone who was never in a relationship on Valentine's Day, I get that it can be annoying to see all your friends being super duper happy in their relationship. But remember, bitterness doesn't help or change the situation. Instead, try to be happy for them, even if they act like 14-year-old teenagers ;)

Anyway, if you are still looking for a last minute gift, or if you simply have a craving for chocolate, these cookies might be just what you were looking for! This recipe makes enough cookies for one baking tray, which equals about 9 large cookies. They are easy to make and only take about 20 minutes of your time.

So let's get started!

Ingredients:
  • 125g or half a cup of butter
  • 125g or half a cup of brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 180g or 3/4 cup of plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar / vanilla flavor
  • pinch of salt
  • one and a half bars or 150g or 2/3 cup of the chocolate of your choice
  • Optional: Toffifee or Peanut Butter Cups etc.

Instructions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C or 375°f.
  2. Line your baking tray with a sheet or make sure it's clean.
  3. Cut or break the chocolate into small pieces. If you're angry, use a hammer and smash it, haha.
  4. Combine the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt with the help of a mixer or food processor.
  5. Add in the egg and mix again.
  6. Now add everything else but the chocolate and continue mixing.
  7. This is the point where I start using my (clean) hands instead of the mixer. If the dough is sticking to your hands, add more flour and continue mixing.
  8. Once you're left with a nice and not sticky cookie dough, add in the chocolate.
  9. Now divide your dough into 9 small balls, place them evenly on your baking tray and flatten them slightly. Be careful, they will spread out quite a bit!
  10. If you want to add something special, stick a Toffifee or Peanut Butter Cup in the middle.
  11. Put the baking tray in the oven and wait for 10-15 minutes. If you like them chewy, get them out at 10 mins, if you like them a little more crunchy, leave them in a little longer.
  12. Once they're done, let them cool for 15 mins before taking them off the tray.

So yeah, this is my go-to recipe every time I want some Chocolate Chip Cookies. It's easy and they always turn out delicious!

If you're making them, let me know in the comments how they turned out!
